Join Simon Williams for an evening tracing the movement of the heavens above us throughout the year - how the stars appear overhead here in Tāhuna, an insight into celestial navigation which once guided people across oceans which can be used to orientate ourselves in the mountains, and how the Gregorian calendar we live by today isn't the only way to mark time.

Drawing on his background in astrophysics alongside what he's learnt through Tātai Aroraki and kā taka o te marama, Simon shares his own journey of setting the Gregorian calendar aside in favour of the maramataka - and what that shift has taught him about rhythm and a different way of understanding the world. This is a personal account - one person's ongoing walk between two ways of knowing the sky.
