This interactive art workshop and kōrero exploring identity, culture and storytelling through Niue art and contemporary tattoo.
Led by Niuean-born tattoo artist Renata Cross, this workshop shares the journey of her mahi, from the traditional Niue art of hiapo through to the evolution of Polynesian tattoo traditions.
Together, you’ll explore the meanings behind patterns, iconography and symbolism, and how cultural practices such as weaving, carving, storytelling, legend, song and dance continue to inspire new forms of creative expression.
You’ll also have the opportunity to create your own designs, guided by Renata, while learning how symbols can carry stories of identity, connection and belonging.
Includes a complimentary fine art print and light refreshments.
