Te Wāhi Toi/The Arts Place exists to connect the creative community of Queenstown and Wānaka with audiences, students, teachers, spaces and each other. We are a not-for-profit organisation powered by Three Lakes Cultural Trust and inspired by local arts and culture.
Join Wellington-based artist Hana Dean for a portrait painting workshop exploring composition, colour, and technique.
Through both drawing and painting exercises participants will learn key principles of underpainting, colour theory, and paint application. Hana will share insights into her creative process while supporting each participant to develop their own expressive portrait from a digital image.
This workshop will run in two 3-hour sessions, with 30 minutes break for lunch:

Hana Deans' practice explores the translation of digital imagery into detailed acrylic painting, with a focus on portraiture and figurative representation.
